The food at this morning's Mother's Day brunch looked delicious, though I'm happy to report that I successfully kept my solid food cravings at bay. I brought lots of filling liquids that I sipped to keep my blood sugar up, and I spent the rest of my time averting my eyes and just pretending the food wasn't there. Out of sight, out of mind!
The only food item that really started getting to me was the sausage. It's a taste that just can't be replicated in the blender and still look appetizing. It also smelled amazing with my improved sense of smell! When I got home I was still thinking of ways to get that "fatty, savoury" taste so I melted 2 tbsp of butter into a cup of chicken broth. It was so delicious and satisfying! I definitely won't be losing any more weight on this liquid diet.
My smile is looking more like a proper smile, except for the scary elastics that tended to frighten the children at brunch this morning. I can also feel a little more definition in my cheeks today!
Lindsay, It looks like your swelling has gone down so much! you look great!
ReplyDeleteYou seem to really be on the mend! How did the communicating go at the brunch? Did you do a lot of (mumbled) talking or just writing? I love your solution for the sausage craving. lol!
ReplyDeleteCommunication was rather limited at the brunch and I didn't even bother to mumble because no one would understand me anyways, haha. I wrote everything I wanted to say and used some hand gestures to get my point across. It was still nice to get out of the house and "socialize." My mom seems to be understanding me a little better today so there's progress! I think the increased lip mobility and decreased swelling in my cheeks is really helping. I can't wait until I get this splint out and see how much communication improves!
DeleteI wonder if sausage could be considered a "soft food" for when that time comes...haha.
I know I have said this a million times, but you look so wonderful!! It looks like your swelling is pretty much gone! You must be so excited!!
